Overcoming Obstacles is a unique, fun and challenging team-based obstacle style race taking place on March 10, 2018 at Cor.Fit’s indoor facility that will raise funds to support HomeFront, a non-profit agency that provides assistance to families impacted by domestic violence.
Overcoming Obstacles is about taking that strength, determination and resilience we all have, and using it to overcome physical obstacles, all while showing support for families impacted by domestic violence who are overcoming obstacles in their lives.

1. Who does Overcoming Obstacles support?
Overcoming Obstacles is raising funds for HomeFront, a Calgary based non-profit organization that works through a unique collaborative approach to free families from domestic violence.
2. How do I register for Overcoming Obstacles?
You can register online by going here. You will require one person to be your team captain, they will register first to create the team and decide on the time slot you will show up at the event. After the team is created, team members can join by heading to the registration site and register and join the team. Teams will need to have a team name and can create a password to protect entry into their team. Teams are made up of 4 people maximum.
3. Is there a registration fee?
Yes, there is a $35 registration fee that covers the cost of your race package.
4. Does our team have to raise money?
We encourage teams to collect pledges which can be done either online or offline. Upon registering you can create a team and individual goal of how much you plan to fundraise. 100% of pledges donated will go directly to HomeFront in order to support families impacted by domestic violence.
5. How do I get donations?
Once your team registers online, a fundraising webpage will be created for you and your team where your family, friends, and others can donate money to allow you to meet your team goal. You can share this website on your various social media platforms. You can also download a pledge form here so you can collect offline donations through cash and cheque.
6. How much of the money raised goes to the cause?
All money raised through team fundraising efforts will go directly to support HomeFront’s programs. To learn more about these programs, go here. The registration fee is designated to cover other expenditures for the race.
7. How will the race work?
Teams will arrive at one of the set times signed up for at registration. Upon arrival at Cor.Fit, you will register, sign a waiver and receive your race package. Teams will then wait for their position to warm up. Teams will complete a 15 minute warm up and then head directly to the starting line. 2 teams will complete the course at one time, with a 2 minute staggered start time. The course will be marked and trainers will be on hand to assist teams.
Please note that this is a sprint style course and should take anywhere from 10-20 minutes to complete. You can expect the entire event to take around 1 – 1.5 hours in total. The course features a varying amount of obstacles, and focuses on working together as a team to overcome the obstacles. If you are not comfortable with an obstacle, you do not have to complete it. Everyone’s safety is our first priority.
8. What if I want to participate but don’t have a team?
Please send us an email at email@example.com and we will work with you to ensure your team is still able to participate, or we can get you onto a team who may be looking for members.
9. How do I train?
Everyone who is participating in Overcoming Obstacles is encouraged to sign up for a class at Cor.Fit in order to check out the obstacles and get comfortable with the sport. The Cor.Fit trainers are extremely knowledgeable about the various obstacles and proper training routines. Visit their website here for more information.
10. I’ve never done an obstacle style race before, can I still participate?
Yes! We encourage everyone to participate. The course will be challenging, however it is designed to accommodate varying skill and fitness levels, and since it’s a team based event, you will have your team to support you along the way!
